Two o'clock rolls around and Holden goes to meet Sally. She's late, as usual, but she looks great so Holden immediately forgives her. On the way to the show, they begin making out in the taxicab. The show is good, but Holden again thinks the actors are too good, like Ernie was. Sally finds some guy she knew and begins flirting with him and Holden gets very annoyed. They go ice skating after the show and Sally rent a short skirted outfit that Holden finds attractive. Both of them suck at skating so they take a break. While they are taking their break, Holden just starts to unravel. He talks about phonies, school, being lonely, and running away together. Sally says that they can't just get up and leave, so Holden gets pissed. He says she's a royal pain in the ass and Sally starts to cry. She'd never been called anything like that before. Holden tries apologizing like a madman, but she won't forgive him. He finally just leaves her.
Response: Yay Holden! Finally admits to someone how lonely and depressed he is. I thought it was kind of a jerk move to just walk away from his date though.
